OOAK - Spartacus/ In memoriam of actor Andy Whitfield

Sculptured with polymer clay

Spartacus - Blood & Sand - in memoriam of great actor Andy Whitfield who died  in 2011 of cancer  :-(

This sculpture was made without any molds over a strong wire armature and made with lots of devotion and fantasy. I didn´t  stop sculpturing until I was totaly satisfied and took high attention to his face. It took me lots of weeks to complete the whole project. I emphasized him masculine, with a "make or break" expression in his face. Actor Andy Whitfield has an unique face, which is not easy to sculpt, but at the end i´m very happy with it : -).

The surface of his body was slightly covered with mud and dust, like the real gladiators, when they are fighting. His eyes were sculpted and painted directly in the face (no print).

I only use finest materials for painting and sealing (genesis). His hair is made of finest fur and styled to look sweaty. His sword and his clothes are completely made by myself. They are made of fine leather, linen and other textiles.
My intention is NOT to create a"Barbie or Ken".  My dolls have such as veins, spots, skintexture, little scarvs, wounds and some hair on its biological places. They have charisma and an unique expression. It can´t be fully displayed in the pics, even when i used different lights, views and ankles.

Spartacus comes with the platform, which is removable. Its a slice of a birchtree, overed with sparkling sand. If you like you can place him without the platform, but i recommend to use the platform for a good stability. All together it looks very decorative and natural.
